Guys I was at my Archery shop last night just BS'ing with the crew. They were at the ATA and this is what they were really excited about. Did you guys see this? Your thoughts? I guess retail will be around mid to upper $300's
I'm a little skeptical of this one myself..........I have a laser grip on my Bowtech General and I can tell you that beam jumps off target when the bow goes off and I don't think anyone would argue that the General is maybe the most recoil free bow out there right now.
I can't see how on earth you are going to get an impact shot with that camera......the arrow will still be in the air when the bow reacts to the shot. You might get some cool footage right before you shoot but once the trigger is pulled? [:-]Not too sure but I can make an educated guess.
I can see everyone's typical footage now.......shaky shot of the ground as it's turned on, followed by a shot of the treetops as they draw their bow, then some shaky footage of the deer, the bow goes off and the entire screen jumps.......and then another 30 seconds of rapid movement aimed at the ground or the treetops as the guy celebrates! (You think anyone is going to remember to point it at the animal after it runs away?)
LOL
I looked at it, and wasn't all that impressed. I agree with a lot of what Matt posted above. Not to mention its rather big and prevents people from being able to use a standard stabilizer, which I don't think would sit too well with many bowhunters.
Stealth Cam is coming out with a little mini digital camera that stores footage on a standard SD card and can be mounted just about anywhere - on your bow, your arm, your hat, your treestand, etc. It's extremely small, maybe 4-5 inches long, and weighs next to nothing. I'd much rather get one of those when they come out, for around the same price, and have some additional versatility.

A little late on this thread but i had to give my input. I think its a pretty good idea, but like Matt said, the footage doesnt usually turn out the best. Also the quality cant compare to the ones that we have been using this season.

If I recall correctly, there was a stablilzer-mounted video cam that was introduced a few years ago... maybe by Knight & Hale? Not sure... but I do remember it didnt go over -- for the exact reasons Matt said up above.

Anything thats specifically made for a specific sport is always going to be more money than the same product in a all around use type. Scientific Oregon makes a similar type camera, and comes with all sorts of different mounting options for under $170. For personal use it works pretty good.
