This was Illinois last weekend for bow hunting, and it turned out to be a great one. My good friend was able to harvest two does, one saturday evening and one sunday morning. My wife had some awsome luck sunday evening. First off I want to remind everyone that this was her very first season hunting and she has bagged 4 deer, that in it self is impresive but the buck she got sunday is even more so. She was hunting our ameristep ground bling about 100 yards from the treestand I was in. This buck came out at around 5:10pm about 200 yards from her. It took him forever to get in range. He would walk a few feet and feed then walk a few more feet and feed. It seemed like an eternity but he finaly closed the distance to within about 60 yards, which was the far edge of the food plot we were hunting. As soon as he hit the edge of the food plot he marched straight at the blind and then angled around to the left side and stopped at 30 yards and looked right at the blind. Unfortunately for him my wife is a good shot and she smoked him. She let the arrow loose at 5:29pm which is right at quiting time. The buck didnt go 60 yards and piled up. This is a heck of a buck for anyone to shoot, not to mention a begginer. Just thought a very proud husband should share this with all you fellow bowhunters. Here are a few pictures of my lucky lady, and her big buck. Almost forgot to mention that her buck is deffinetly bigger than the one I got this year, hopefuly she doesnt rub it in to bad.
