Default First Bow

I know this will open can of worms but I am going to ask anyway. I am looking into purchasing my first bow. By the time it is built I know I will be about $1500 into it. I have see quite few ads for the big vendors..Matthews, Hoyt, Bowtec. What are some of the recommendations out there for what is on the market? Right now I am using my buddies Hoyt Vortec. I am OK with it right now but will be practicing more during the off season to include taking a bow education class this summer. But I want to start practicing now. Some of your .02?

For $1500 you can have any bow YOU desire. Shoot as many as possible and let the bow decide. What is fantastic in our hands might not be in your hands. I can highly recommend all of the bows, shoot em, let us know what you decide. Good luck and most of all, have fun!

Haven't heard of a single Mathews breaking, the fella that owns the local dealer(been selling mathews for an eternity), said he hasn't had any trouble. I would shoot the top end models of each of the leading brandsyou havelisted and decide what you want out of the bow and which you liked the best. I must say that I certainly love Mathews. Mathews bows have unmatched forgiveness, nearly silent at release, smooth, and very fast. Good Luck!

Shoot any and every bow you get your hands and don't limit yourself to just those three brands. Everyone has a favorite you just have to find yours.

Another thing too, 1500.00 will buy you a good bow! 350.00 will too! There's allot of good bows out there that a guy doesn't need to take out a loan on!

I threw the $1500 out there because that is what I have heard. By the time you buy the bow and all thebells and whislesthat go with it. What exactly the bells and whistles are, I don't know exactly yet. I am sure I will find out when I hit my local dealer and they start setting me up. If I get out of the deal cheaper then thats great.

I shoot a Fred Bear TRX, single cam, totaled out to about $600 with all the goodies. Love the bow and for the price has good fps, 305 I think. I would get a quality mid-priced bow and spend the rest on trail-cams, clothing, decoy etc...concidering your needs.

Now me...im a Browning freak...i have the Myst andi love it...its so forgiving

but thats just me...the best thing you can do (like most of these guys said) is shoot as many bows as you can...for $1500 you can get pretty much anything..so try em all out and see which one works best for you
