Yes they are shedding, I found my first shed of the season the day before Christmas. It still had blood on the base.

I found my first shed of the season 3 weeks ago! The food was covered up for weeks by snow and ice, it was very cold for a few weeks straight. This stress is causing them to drop early!

I see quite a bit of shedding every year by now. Maybe a little more this year, but not a lot. I've found 3 so far.

I agree with Dan. Seems like people start picking up some sheds around this time every year, although the majority of them won't drop for another month or so yet. I'm sure stress plays some sort of factor in the grand scheme of things, but if it were that big they would all be dropping them now, not just a few of them.
