I took my girlfriend out on saturday, jan 5th, and she shot a nice buck. Our season went out on the 6th of jan so it was right down to the line. Im guessing him in the 115" range. She is going to get it mounted. I was hopeing to get her on some does that I had seen using the area. As soon as we were pulling down the lane to ourhunting spot we had does cross right in front of us so I decided not to go to much farther so we wouldnt spook any other deer. I was going to bring my bow just in case a doe was out of her range and I would be able to fill my tag but she said that she didnt want me to bring my bow because I always shoot and miss the deer and mess up the hunt, so I agreed to let her be the one to have all the action. Well we had only been there for about 15-20 minutes when all of a sudden two small bucks started trotting our way down the trail and I had her pull back her bow incase we get a shot. She was planning on shooting one of the small 1.5 year old bucks when I spotted a good buck coming down the same trail and told to just hold still and try to keep your bow back. The buck gets right in front of us about 10 yards away and stops right behind a tree and then goes into a slow trot again and my girlfriend lets her arrow fly and the shot looks back. After the buck gets out of sight we go to where the deer was standing and find the arrow right off the bat. We walk to the field the deer was heading for and it is standing across the field and takes off into the woods. After waiting a good while we went to see if we could find it, and I didnt mention it was raining so there wasnt any blood. To shorten the story we searched without any sign and happen to walk up on it dead about 400yards from where it was shot. Even though the shot was back the deer was quartering enough that one long was hit. I will have some pictures here soon so just hold tight.
