Default Season is over........

aftertoday per Wisconsin regulations for the units I hunt. Starting tomorrow my new season starts and I will be taking my GPS unit out with me and scouting every square inch of the properties I hunt.
This will be the first time in a few yearsI have done this as I usually let the woods sit until about August. My reason for this change is last year I went in and out so much with the game cams I strongly believe I messed up alot of the area's with my presence. Beginning of this past season I did see a lot of deer but only 1 mature buck, 1 small 6 pointer and the rest were doe's.
So this year it will be early with stand area's set by March and cleared out the best I can for fall and I am out of there. I will leave my intrusions for the public lands I have been eyeing with my new
Lone Wolf and climbing sticks in tow.(1 doe Bow, 3 with gun)
It has been fun watching and reading all of everyone's success and failures and I wish you the best in 2008.

Peace

My favorite time to scout January through March. I really like to scout in the snow as well as on bare ground, but we don't normally get much snowin S. IL.

You put in the time Tony.. it will all pay off in 2008. Sorry I couldn't make it out with you today. My body is still aching from this past season.. I still have about 10 days here in Illinois.. but I'm not to sure I'll sit more than once or twice in that span.

Next year.. you and me.. that public piece.. we'll get a couple dandy's for sure.

Well, that's a pretty good idea. Now is a good time to get out and scout. Hopefully you can put it together and find one like you got last year.
