Your main order of business for 2008 regarding hunting?
Mine has little to do with equipment, rather its to make sure I have places to hunt. Though I've had good long, friendly talks with my landowners that I hunt with permission, nothing in this day and age is secure. I don't want to find out mid-year or at the start of the 2008 season I no longer can hunt my old places....they have dwindled enough. So my main order of business is to knock on a lot of doors, make phone calls, whatever it takes to try to gain more ground. I am even going to research and hopefully prepare some drafts for leasing if I absolutely have to. That is only if I absolutely have to.

Practice more. I am going to set one of my ladder stands up in the back yard. I have always wanted to have a 3D target, so I am going out within the next couple of weeks and picking one up. (left over Christmas $$$$) I know this has nothing to do with bow hunting, but I bought a new Muzzle Loader for myself for Christmas, so I will be working on shooting that, and getting comfortable with it before next season.

Sounds like the answer to your problems.
Get my newly purchased 84 acres scouted.
Get stand sites cleared.
Get soil tests done.
Lime and fertilize as needed.
Plant food plots. And watch them grow.
Kill big bucks.
That pretty much covers it, I think. It should be a busy off season for me this year. But fun too.

1) Scouting beginning in February. Scout as much as I did years ago so that I may learn the new areas I hunted this year inside and out. Makes my life alot easier come hunting season.
2) Next order of business would be to get a wide peep sight. I took my peep sight off the last two years and although I have hit and killed everything I have shot at(5/5) over that two year period, I am lacking in good accuracy at 30+ yards....I need to get back to good groups at 35 yards and I believe I need to put the peep sight back on to achieve those results.
3) I am going to look for new places to hunt. I love the military base I hunt because they let me come on there, but sometimes the hunting can be very tough. I am going to cruise around and ask people to hunt on their land with the trade out being that I will give them half of the deer meat that I get off their land. I have never asked people and have always hunted on military base b/c I have no land of my own. Time to expand my hunting horizons.
