I finally got my first buck yesterday afternoon. He came in feeding on some yews and I was shocked that he was there. We have received 2' of snow this past week so the deer are scrambling and travelingfor food.It was a30 yard shot andeitherIshot a little high or he started to jump the string (it was hard concentrating on him whileI was trying not to loose all of my bodily functions in suchexcitement). Iblew theliver apartandpossibly part of a lung - hard to tell if it was the arrow or my hackjobdressing. He went about 100 yards and expired.
That is the funpart.The not so fun part was pulling him over 500 yardsin 2' of snow. Thanks to my kid's patience and understanding, theylet me borrow their sledto pull him back so we at least had that going for us. I also have to thankmy perfect wife who helpedme pullforalmost 1 1/2 hours. Needless to saywewerecompletely exhausted. I am so proud of him and honored to have taken him that the pulling was well worth it.
Seing him up close & dressing himreminded me how beautiful these animals are. He is absolutely incredible & I am so blessed to have crossed paths with him.
