All depends on where you are and the deer is. Aim for the exit hole, not the enterance.

From the bottom of the deer where the leg meets the body; two-inches up, two-inches back.

Pretty much the same for anything else.

Lung's all the way! The lung's are by far the biggest of the vital's to be aiming for. There's to much room for error by just aiming for the heart alone.

What I learned this season is......where you aim on the deer's body.....and where the spot is when the arrow gets there......is sometimes two different places.

I made mistakes early on aiming too high. Nothing wrong with aiming for lung. Nothing at all. But....I had a couple duck on relatively close shots.....and the results were high hits.....long tracks......and worse. I have an unknown out there.

What I learned this year is......my effective range is shorter than I once thought. It's also (in my opinion) better to aim a little lower on the deer. Miss low??? Big deal. Clean miss. Deer ducks? DL......and again...no big deal.

Just what I had to learn the hard way.

Jeff, I used to feel the way you do now, but then I learned a lesson the hard way. That thinking is great if you know the exact distance. If you estimate a little short you end up with a brisket shot.[:@] Now, I aim for those lungs.
