He probably means that you have the same issue in NY as we do here in NJ. Hunters shooting young bucks just to fill their tags, and then ACTUALLY BEING PROUD of shooting a spike, like it was the biggest buck ever taken in the area.
Telling other people what they "should" feel gives me the creeps. It would be worse if someone shot a deer that they showed no pride in whatsoever IMO...........then I would say "Why shoot it??"........but if you are smiling ear to ear I couldn't care less what is on the ground or in your truck I will say congrats and be very happy for you.
