Default How many bow vs gun threads can we have...

Going on at one time?!?! Anyone been out in the woods lately or seeing much deer activity?? I've been seeing pretty good second rut activity the last week and a half or so. So what's going on in your woods?

Same.
New scrapes and rubs but the deer are moving very close to dark/during night. I think early morning would be better but I have this dang job!

Some stinkin' bp hunter put a stand in one of my best bow spots, what a jerk!! Other than that I have got out for 3 hours in the past 2 1/2 weeks so I am pretty much having some serious withdrawal symptoms right now. Sunday I will relocate my late bowstandsto a less crowded area and hopefully get to hunt them a few times before Jan. 5.

The woods here are calming down from our chaos filled, gun toting, lazy hunterseason. [8D]Can't wait until us REAL hunters can get back in the calm serene woods and hunt like real men.

Ahhh sorry I had to.

But for real, activity is mostly at night. Hopefully in a couple weeks the deer will be a little less on edge and maybe some colder weather will have them up feeding more often. I have a buck and 2 doe tags left. I feel pretty good about getting at least one doe, but we'll see. I'm going to make a decent push at a buck as well.

I wonder how the conversations would go if trapping deer were legal???

Gun season is over here.
Gun season here in my part of NC runs from the middle of Oct through the season's end on Jan 1. One of my spots, where several other people also hunt, the landowner only allows bowhunting! My other spot borders a state park. I used to hunt that spot with another buddy of mine and he always busted out his rifle as soon as bow season ended. Now that he's moved to the beach I'm the only one in there and I've used my bow all season. Funny, I've been seeing deer almost every time I sit there now that he doesn't sit there smoking in his stand with a rifle!!
