Hell no. I just had lunch with the GW. He talked to them.....but they're not going to do anything about it. If I wasn't afraid of how I'd be viewed by my fellow hunter.....I'd hunt any damned where I wanted to in my area from now on.

They're not going to do anything. I'm hosed. These guys will continue to trespass and poach......just like they have for years. Anything I let go in bow season is probably a dead deer come gun season. I never see this changing, around here.

Jeff:

I'm not 100% sure of the laws down there, but if you can catch and prove they were trespassing on private landowners property that you have exclusive rights to hunt, those landowners should be able to press trespassing charges. This should be handled by the police, not the GW. There is no difference with this as compared to him trespassing in their house, my understanding is if it is posted it is viewed as the same thing.

How do you landowners feel about them being on the property? Would any of them be willing to prosecute?

Think about it this way.....

NONE of my landowners hunt. In fact.....they're [-----------] this close to being "anti" they love animals so much. They let me hunt....because of my father in law's longstanding reputation in our part of town....and because I've asked them in a professional manner....and proven I'm a good steward of their land.

THE LAST THING they want.....is to have "hunting" bring controversy into their lives. if they don't know it......they don't have to deal with it (which is likely what's been going on for years. These guys have probably been hunting my landowner's land without their knowledge).

Put yourself in their shoes.....they'd likely just do away with ALL hunting on their land.....which would play RIGHT BACK INTO THE HANDS of the poachers.

I lose.....either way.

then you have to find a way to fight back... plain and simple... sometimes protecting the right you've earned is harder than earning them in the first place... i wouldn't ever advocate violence, or another illegal act to bring retribution... but maybe if they had no reason to want to hunt this land they'd start leavin it alone...

Jeff, not that I am a supporter of this method, but you might consider a hunting lease. Approach the landowner and offer to pay a sum of money as a lease for say 1-5 years. In return, you have sole hunting privileges on this land with the ability to enforce this lease from tresspassers.

You may be opening a can of worms here in that other people may offer a greater sum of money in the future and you could be out of a place to hunt.

It might be a solution to your problem.

Well jeff, you tried and theres nothing that you can do other than what you already did. Thats all i can say about that.

Sucks it had to be like that but hey your the one doing things right and then some a hole comes in and does the brown is down in your hunting spot. I dont blame you for being mad and i would be too, All i can say is take a video camera with you next time never know it may come in hand.

Ryan.
