How far down south??? In Pike and Calhoun Co, 3" snow and 1/2" ice right now, farther down just rain now..In january the weather can be either way.. The deer are hitting food plots hard right now, real hard..

I don't consider Pike Southern Illinois... LOL. Funny, I think Illinoisans consider ANYTHING south of Chicago "Southern Illinois".. [8D]
For those of us who REALLY hunt Southern Illinois , I doubt you'll see much snow. January can be pretty cold, and there's been a few years we've had some good ice storms. Seems like cut corn fields and sometimes the winter wheat gets hit pretty good.
You would probably get a more precise answer if you were a little more specific than "southern Illinois". If your talking Shawnee National Forest, you're not going to have to worry much about Snow. If your talking somewhere just south of Springfield, you might have Snow, you might not. I say come on down and take your chances!

LOL! Wrong Greg, Only Chicagoians think anything south of Chicago is southern IL. The rest of us know the difference. IMO, Chicago should become its own state.LOL[8D]
