Default How many of you get cought up in a moment and dont shoot?

I was elk hunting a few weeks back and a yote walked up thirteen yards off and stopped sniffin the air I was drawn on him but waited... I just thought it was so cool to have a predator with no clue of my presence at 10 to 13 yards that one minute later when I shook out of it and was ready to shoot he trotted off.
\
I was wondering how many of you have had something like that happen?

I know it was stuipid on my part

Never been in AWE of a yote. Sorry it's most likely your own illness.

NOPE!!I get caught up in the moment and shoot something I might not have with a bit more thought.

I could benefit from a few more minutes to "maybe" make a different call. I see a deer that offers me a shot I hardly look at the horns. I look for a nice broadside in my range.I "might" have passed on my first buck this year If I had thought it thru BEFORE he showed up under 20 yards...

Yep! I've done that on a coyote and a red fox! Both times they were about 15 feet from me. It was very neat!

I don't shoot foxes but have shot coyotes.... I've also let them pass just because of the situation or something... like opening morning in the Southern Tier this year. I just didn't want to disturb a beautiful morning sitting on a prime run where I had zapped a doe the day before with the bow. Saw the coyote the day before too.

I've done the opposite - get caught up in the moment and take a shot I shouldn't have, but
never what you speak of - sorry.

Nope, never drew or raised a gun where I haven't fired or shot.

As far as yotes, I've only seen 3 while hunting, all 3 fell. First to a bow, then to a rifle, the third to a shotgun.

You kidding, Rob? Hell I came to full draw 5 times in the first week of bow season, THIS year! (shot once)

I don't miss too many chances. If a yote, select deer, bobcat, chupacabra or Wompass cat comes inside the 20yd line......I WILL NOT miss my chance.
