Here's one major positive. I helped this boy get his first buck ever!

Other than that I've taken a lot of kids out this year.

I persisted in getting in the woods when I knew I was onto a buck I've been after. I saw him on a Friday. I saw him on Saturday. I couldn't hunt him Sunday or Monday.....bu was back in there on Tues. (mixed it up and moved 40 yds). It worked out like a charm.

This is the second year in a row I have taken the largest racked buck that I've "seen" (gamecam and sightings) from my woods......in my second full year hunting.

Like I said in the other thread.....ONE of my goals this year was to not loose an arrow I wasn't proud of. I'm good with that, too.

I also will most likely achieve my mgmt. goal of removing 8 does from the herd. I have 6....Brknarrow took one....and I have7 more (huntable) days to take one more.

1. took my oldest boy (6.5yr old) out to the stand and let him spot for me, grampa took my youngest out (3yr old) one day... great times...
2. kept my bow out of the woods this season as I was not adequately prepared to take quality shots, this was difficult
3. passed on a younger 6pt basket that looks like it has potential

Passed on bunch ofsmaller bucks and does this year, took a descent 9 point and a mature doe! After them I let more small ones walk bye...they are fun to watch though!

Took my son (10 yrs old) out a few times this year. Got myself and him up before daylight. After about an hour or so after light he was ready to go, was pretty cold though, we went home. Although I know that it was just about prime time I didn't want himto be uncomfortable. It was hardfor me to leave at those times, but managed[8D].I would Just give him a high five on the way back to the truck and thanked him for getting up and coming out with me......to me, thats what it's really all about!

Hunted right at the right time. What I mean is, I hunted funnels, with the right wind, at the right time of year.

I found a new property, one that actually holds mature bucks.

I practiced proper scent control, and hunted the winds accordingly.

Able to get to and from my stands, undetected. That I know of anyway.

Better bow, better shooting accuracy and consistency, better camo, better scent control, better stealth,
better consideration of wind and feeding and bedding areas, more stand locations, more time on stand,
but so far other than seeing more deer, nothing to showfor it. I feel like I am a better hunter despite my lack
of in the field success. One of these days a big buck will slip up.

A lot of the changes I incorporated this year I got from HNI! This place is a good place to learn just by hanging around.

Enjoyed myself every second of the season, without complaint.
