Default Who hunts out of a climber over corn?

Who bowhunts out of a climber over a corn pile? Do you spook many deer, or have you had good luck with it.. I was thinking sitting on the ground about 25 yards away in some thick bushes while wearing my leafy suit, but never liked hunting from the ground.

Ive never done it with corn (its not legal in MO) but i would think you would do better a little farther away from the corn. If you know where the deer are coming from then you could catch them on the way to it. just an idea...

This year was the first time I've ever hunted from the ground. I was forced into it because I didn't relize I left my strap for my climber back home 5 hours away. I knew it wasn't going to be a problem the rest of the week but this was Monday morning a 6am and I wanted to hunt. I hopped into an old small shed and had a lot of fun. I'm pretty sure after getting out and recovering both deer I shot, they had no way of seeing me in there.

Anyway, I think you will be ok. I wouldn't worry about sitting that close in the bushes. The main thing is you must think of wind direction at all times. You need to be sure your down wind as they walk up and as they are eating. Corn on the ground is just like any other food source for them. Acorns leaves, there's a lot of it but they just don't seem to just sit there and eat it all. They kinda of graze and walk around and then move on. I think that's what surprised me the most. I figured they would have stayed until the pile was gone or they were full. That didn't happen.

Good luck, your in for and exciting hunt if you do choose to do it.

I personally love hunting from the ground. I find it more challenging and on the flip side a little easier to set up for a quick hunt (think college student hunting weekends) If you'll have plenty of time to set-up, try finding a tree that is on their travel route to your pile and set-up a few yards off the pile. Otherwise, dig a quick pit blind and get some brush behind you. Shoot straight!

I hope it works, there are alot of bushes and trees so i should be able to hide relatively easy. Plus my leafy suit blends into just about anything, so i f I watch the wind and keep my movement to a minimal I should be good to go..

I've been over a cornpile in a climber, in fact I've been over both of mine in a climber. You just have to watch out because the deer seem a little more alert when they are around. I've even noticed that the largest doe feeding at one seems to always be a "lookout." I've really found that I see more deer by sitting farther back from the corn on one of the trails they use to travel to it.

I like the climber around the corn cause you can adapt to the wind, change up your setup (deercatch onover time)and I've had better luck hunting the trails that lead to the corn rather than the corn itself.

I have hunted from a climber over corn just set up around 25 to 30 yards away. It is harder to get a shot when the deer get to the corn pile because 1 or 2 are eating and the others are watching. Usually try to get a shot before the deer start feeding on the corn.
