Entering Canada, Who's Gone from U.S.

Ok, So I'm planning on Attending an Ontario Hunt next fall.. Do i need a Passport? What about registering guns? What about having to register them for entering BACK INTO the U.S. Was told I needed to do all of this from a GUY who goes every year. He said, if the U.S. checks us on the way back in, and we didn't register our guns, which the closest place to us happens to be Greenbay, its a felony.

Any body have any experience going into and back from Canada?

It sounds as if you're driving? If so, I think it's more of a hassel than flying. I've flown to Alberta a few timesto bowhunt only. I don't know about the gun thing, but you will need a Passport. They can bust your b@lls if you have a record with the law within a 5 year period, or even turn you away. This includes any DUI's. For some, this might be worthlooking into. With a bow it was simple.

Are you coming (I live in Canada) with a bow or gun? With a gun you will have to register it before they will let you enter with it with a bow you don't.

Coming, With a Gun... I believe I register it AT the Border.. But coming back into the Unites State, I was told I also have to have certain registration or its a felony on the U.S. side.. Passports? Or No Passports?

yes you will need a passport. No you dont need to register your guns coming back in just make sure you tell them at the border that you have them in your vehicle.

In 2008 you need a passport no matter what. Without one right now before 2008 it is so much of a hassle that it ain't even worth it.I've heardsome horrible stories about bordercrossing. They can legally tear your car apart. I had to wait a few hours one time. My mom had to wait 4-5 hours because she admitted to having a leatherman. Coming back is definitely the hardest part about it. I live close to the border.

I think I may know a thing or two about this....

The passport issue for land crossings is very vauge. They are saying "Sometime Summer of 2008. We will give a 60 day notice."

As for the gun.....you had better register it at the boarder when you cross into Canada.....or never plan on entering Canada again.
