Default tracking with no blood trail?

at twilight i shot a mule deer doe in the left front shoulder about 6-8" from the spine. The arrow stuck, and i was unable to find any blood (or arrow). I know the general area he went, since this is my first year of hunting archery this is not the part of the hunt that i was anticipating. Does anyone have any tips of how to effectively find this deer? After being shot it jumped and sprinted off down hill, then turning, running evenly along the mountain side. i didnt try to track immediately after shot, i GPSed the point where i shot her and then unfortunately it had gotten too dark.

That is the best thing you could have said...by waiting you probably saved yourself a mule deer that was marginally hit. Please go to the top of this forum and there is a post called, "What to do after the shot". It is an excellent post that will help you alot. You did good plotting the point. Please let us know if you find her in the morning.

You also my find your arrow in the morning and that would provide a great deal of information. Print off some of the stuff in that post I told you to read in my first post and use it in the field tomorrow.

after reading that i got the impression that if they jump up that equals a decent shot? The arrow hit hard and she hit about every tree in her path with that arrow. Should i be looking for a broken arrow? (I'm shooting alumium xx75's).after talking to experienced bow hunter friends of mine they said the deer usually dont go more than 300 yards. Does that sound like an experience youve had?
