Default SCOUTING DO YOU CARRY YOUR BOW

ok lets say your in a new area scouting for stand sites it is bow season or gun season

do you carry your bow or gun just incase something pops up infront of you or you come up on a few deer in a field

lets say for each your bow and gun of choice

if it was gun season i would most of the time with my bow i have but am unsure if i should

If I were scouting in season, I would definately have a weapon with me. One never knows and stranger things have happened.

i know a few weeks ago on a hunt i deciede i would not nock a arrow while i walked in for two reason one i do not wont to stape my self two i do not wont to hit my arrow one a tree or limp and damage the broad head arrow or rest

the first hunt i did not nock a arrow i had a doe and small buck run down beside me then run around and up tome right infront of me 15 yards out if i had a arrow nocked i would have had a doe

Always carry your bow or gun while doing in season scouting! By not doing so cost me a couple of nice opportunities in the past and it cost my son a nice 8 pt. buck just two weeks ago. He came along while I moved a stand. I neglected to remind him to bring his bow along(left mine at the truck too). While climbing the tree to remove the hangon, first two does and then later on a nice 8 pt. stopped 20 yards away not knowing either of us were there. It would have been like shooting at a 3D target.

I do alot of my scouting during squirrel season. When I do scout when a deer season is in then I will carry the weapon that is in season at the time. I always hunt the same area so I basicly know the patterns of the deer in my hunting area. I've been hunting the same woods for 20 plus years so there is some change in their patterns but it really hasn't changed alot.
