If it happened the way you say it did, I would get back out there as soon as I could. If you were not detected he probably thought it wasa tree rat throwing acorns at him. Have you hunted that spot in the mornings?

Droptine, listen tothem, and me. Go in there the first chance you get, it may be the only chance again. He is rutting and he doesn't care what happened there this morning. If you didn't truly spook him and the does keep coming in, he will be there. Go stick that bad boy and show us the pics, make us east coast boys proud!!!

id try the morning but get there extra early, maybe a couple hours early. My hunting area is the same way morning hunts the deer are in the field so I perfer afternoon. If I do hunt in the mornings I get there early, early. let it settle back down way before light.
