Default Ever witnessed a deer being taken?

Not a trick question.....just a different twist. I'm asking if you've ever been sitting close by when a deer was taken by a fellow bowhunter. Brknarrow (Frank) took a dandy doe, here, yesterday.....and it's the first time I've actually watched and HEARD a deer being hit. I couldn't get over what a "thwack" it made.....and I never remember hearing that on the shooting end. It was also neat to see someone (else) fall apart after the shot....lol.

Rob/PA told me this was a unique experience......and it was really cool to witness. I couldn't have been happier if I'd shot her, myself. Actually....it was cool to have a deer hanging in my building and me NOT butchering it!

I've not actually been in the same tree, but have heard the "whack" from my buddies hit. I was sitting about 80 yds. away and could still hear it. I have heard the same thing on my hits if they involve breaking bone of any kind, shoulder, leg, rib, etc. If it's a straight pass through with no bone hit, you won't hear it.

You are right Jeff, there are alot of things you don't hear/ notice when you aren't the one shooting. It's really cool. I did alot of this when I was younger, and I make it a point to do it at least once a year with a good buddy of mine, that I don't get to see much. I guess I'd rather share a treestand and the time with him, than hunt a 1/4 mile away and shoot one. Just cause of the limited time that he has to hunt in the last few years in the Navy and flying school.

Yes, just a couple weeks ago i witnesed my son take his buck while i was in a tree behind him. it sounded like dropping a rump roast on the floor We got in to a fist pumping competition seconds latter. We also doubled last season together and i have seen one other person do this. It is a rush for sure.
