Where do you hit your deer?
Pretty much everyone tries for a double lung, some go for heart shots. I keep a log of all my bowkills. I was a little surprised to find I only have 4 true double lung shots (18% of my kills). The majority of mine involve 1 lung and either the heart or liver. Not that heart and 1 lung shots don't pile up the deer in short order, but liver/1 lung shots tend to take a little longer. Just wondering if you guys keep any such records as to what shots take down most of your deer.

Wimp I also keep a log on every deer I have taken! I'll have to check it out. All I know for sure is the last 3 deer I have taken have been shot in the spine. Not on purpose mind you! Must be a magnet for my arrows as of late. I always look for the double-lung shot.

Hee Hee maybe I shouldn't reply, but wolfens reply made me laugh, if I was shot up the keester, dead or not I would probably jump into the next county before I hit the ground, the mere thought of being shot there makes me wince!!!!
I have had exactly 1 bow kill, I was going for a double lung shot, but she jumped the string and I spined her.

IMO the best shot is a Quartering away shot about 8 inches behind the shoulder that will put it right in thr boiler room.

In all honesty... I can probably count on one hand the number that WEREN'T Double lung. It may be a few more because of spine shots and stuff... but most are there. Some may have gone through a shoulder to do that or through a shoulder coming out... but they still got it all.

RE: Where do you hit your deer?
I always strive for the double lung shot. I've been Deer hunting with the bow since 1960-62 and have lost count of the deer I've taken with the bow, at least one or two every year, but can tell you that I've only taken six that were not lung shots.
I do know that three of them were heart shots and those three were taken while still hunting. I contribute that to dropping the bow upon release which causes a low hit.
I like the idea of a log and have done that for time of day, direction of travel in relation to wind but never on point of enter.
I might go back to doing that but a bit more complete.
Work hard and be true to yourself.

USUALLY WITH THE BUMPER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. HELPS TO PUT THEM IN THE DITCH BETTER.
I HAVE NOT KEPT RECORDS BUT MAY HAVE TO GO BACK AND SEE IF I CAN REMEMBER. WT WOULD BE EASY TO RECALL- ZERO, I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ONE YET. SERIOUSLY DOUBLE LUNG IS THE WAY TO GO, BUT WHAT YOU WANT AND WHAT YOU GET ARE VERY DIFFERENT. ON BEARS IT VERY IMPORTANT TO TAKE THE BROADSIDE SHOT TO INCREASE ODDS OF GETTING BOTH LUNGS. THEY CAN GO A LONG WAYS WITH JUST ONE LUNG AND THEY CAN GET CRANKY WHEN YOU APPROACH THEM.
