Default Interesting...

Because I went back to school this fall, I haven't had nearly as much time to scout this year as I normally do. Yesterday was the first day I've had a chance to get out in the woods since the early season closed in September. Our late season opens again on Tuesday, so I took the Double Bull out to set it up and get it tucked away for opening day.

Anyhow, while I was setting the blind up I noticed a significant decrease in the amount of sign I normally see this time of year. I counted only five fresh scrapes and one fresh rub. This is the kind of sign I normally see while scouting in October. I don't know if its because of the warmer/wetter weather we've had recently or what, but I thought it was kind of odd.

I haven't really been surfing HNI as religiously as I normally do, but has anyone else noticed a lack of sign this year?

Its just the opposite for me. I'm seeing much more. That may have to do with me learning better about where to look.

What I have seen is mixed. One area I hunt is going nuts with rutting activity. Never seen anything like it, the whole 200 acres smells like rutting bucks with an average of a scrape ever 20 yards along the edges of the fields. But everywhere else, and what everyone locally I have talked to say, it is below average.
