Default graupel

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh nothing like it [:-]! Those lovely snow pellets pounding you in the face combined with 30 mph gusts of wind. Some pretty nasty stuff that falls from the sky.

I went out yesterday afternoon. It had been raining the night before and all day. The forecast called for "showers tapering off"in the early afternoon and winds diminishing. I said........ cool sounds like a perfect afternoon to hunt. Got in my tree around 2:30. I was pummeled by wave after wave after wave of snow pellets until dark [8D]. Everytime one of these waves would come the wind would blow at least 30mph. Then it would calmdown for 10 minutes and get bright. Then in the near distanceI could see another band coming and I'd get crushed for another 10 minutes. In a weird twisted way I found it to very cool to be hunting in [8D]. Anyone have any graupel (i guess that's the name for it) experience?

I might be headed for one this evening. Not sure how much the snow bands will be htting where I am headed. I hope the winds are easy.

happend last year...my hunting buddie and I were in our stand its late November and their calling for snow showers...snow showers turned into a full out blizzard...and I mean blizzard, wind gusts, drifting snow, freezing tempatures....your right though...we didn't see one deer that night, but I still tell that story as one of the funnest hunts I went out on.

Don't know why...maybe its because despite the elements you stick it out...true outdoorsman....kinda like postmen...lol...
