Nov. 3rd was my first time in the stand this year. My son was born in late Sept., C-section, then my wife had to have her gall bladder removed 4 weeks later so I have been playing Mr. Mom to a 7yr old and infant. I got to my favorite stand 1hr before daylight, shot a doe right at sun up, climbed down and tagged her. Got back on stand and decided to try a little rattling, figured I had nothing to lose after the racket the doe made. After five minutes of rattling I hung my antlers up and noticed a large 10pt had rushed in and busted me grabbing my bow. I figured it worked once so I gave it another shot and a wide 8 raced in and gave me a 18 yd shot. Making a short story long not the best hit in the world, long frustrating blood trail, painfull drag, and satisfied hunter and daughter (she expects results everytime I come home from the woods). Not good at scoring and have not really cared. He has an 18 1/2 inside spread and the width is what prompted the shot. Pics below.
Ahhh yes, Saturday November 3.....was a good day indeed! Congrats to you, on several things! New daddy, proud daughter...and a fine buck!! Congrats to ya bro!
