I went to my spot on MOnday where I have seen a lot of deer before. This time NOTHING! Not even squirrels?

I had the same results on Monday. I sat from 12:15-dark!

Could it related to the fact that it was a new moon? It should be the rut (near the end) , it was cold, and there was a front coming in. I thought they would be moving.

I am not sure on NY but I would guess its relatively the same between Illinois and NY and the rut.

The rut is not near the end, in fact it is just getting to the good part. Yes, lots of does have come into estrous already. But the best part is after that has all diminished and the big bucks start to really cruise everywhere searching for the last does in estrous. Thats when they start making mistakes!

Get in there.. and hunt hard. Hunt funnels, fencerows, ridge lines and anything else deer travel through connecting woodlots. The bucks will be cruising. It doesn't matter if you don't see many deer.. it only takes one!
