Default How often do you replace your cables on your climber?

I was wondering how often you change your cables on your climbers. I have had my summit stand for 8+ years and have never changed my cables. That being said I am planning on changing them after the season or if i get them for christmas. I know 8 years is prolly too long, but they didnt have any wear on them other than shrink tubing. How long do you guys go before changing them?

I've had my summit 3 years now, and the cables are perfectly fine. I am, however, going to get new shrink tubing for them.

The frequency depends on the use, and abuse. Having said that....when in doubt, buy new ones.

why would you question the worth of your cables. Im guessing something has happened.

No nothin has happened but you are supposed to change your cables every so often and mine are the original 8 year old cables. Trust me my Summit is built like a rock.

I think they were 3 years old. The reason I replace them was the heat shrink coating was pretty tore up but the cables were fine.

I havent changed mine either I just replace the wrap when it gets cracked and busted up. I work for a electrical dist and can get the heat shrink tubing, works real good better then the oringinal..

So do you think I should get the new ones for like $35 or just buy some shrink wrap tubing?

At 8 years old I'd say spring for the cables. 35 bucks is a drop in the bucket compared to a stay in the hospital.
