Default Hunting "the bottom"

As some of you know I finally got a chance to hunt the other side of my lease. I went in Friday afternoon for a quick look around. I found what I thought were a couple of good stand locations and backed out. Saturday morning I took one of my climbers in and got set up 25 yds off an active scrape. The wind was right and I felt good. At about 8:45 I saw the biggest deer I have ever seen in the wild. My guess would be 130-135. The only problem is I saw him from 75 yards away. I grunted but he showed no interest. He was traveling a trail I had considered hanging my stand on. Oh well, bad guess. About 5 minutes after seeing that buck a little basket 6 came by and stopped and pee'ed in the scrape. I watched him come and go with no thought of a shot. That was all I saw on Saturday. I had planned on going back on Sunday AM but couldn't. I got a call from my BIL. He was planning to hunt so as agreed I would stay out of the area. That morning he killed his second buck of the week. A 115" 9 point with a beautiful chocolate brown rack. He shot him at about 120 yards with his 30/06. He is done now. both buck tags are filled. So I thought OK, now I can hunt down there and try to fill my 2nd tag. I thought I'd go sit over the scrape again Sunday night. Wrong. BIL wanted to hog hunt. I offered to let him sit over one of my 2 feeders that are specifically for hog hunting. He declined saying he really wanted to hunt in his bottom. I really think he just wants to keep me out. When I mentioned going in there this coming Saturday AM he told me he plans to be there moving a bowstand. He hasn't touched his bow this year. Oh well, I thought he was becoming more reasonable. My wife and sister in law asked him why he was being so selfish and his answer was, " he hunts the top,I hunt the bottom". That was said with bitterness and anger.
So I'm taking a vacation day Thursday. He is in training all week and can't be out there. I called him and let him know I'd be in there and he wasn't very happy about it. He said I'd run the hogs off that he wants to hunt this weekend. Funny, he always wanted the hogs out of that bottom before. I'll let you know how thursday works out. A front is coming in that is supposed to drop temps by 20 degrees. It will be the first cool weather in weeks. Wish me luck.
Sorry about the long post. I thought some of you may have been interested in the continuing saga.

Good luck and don't give up your rightful position on this lease.

I told you he'd show his hand....one way or the other. I'm just sorry it's not the one you wanted to see.

Good luck, Greg. I'm pulling for you, thursday!

Good luck! Go get that biggun you saw the other day. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to hunt any part of the lease that you're paying equally for.

So the grass wasn't greener after all?
Those food plots you two will be planting should turn that spot into a real honey hole, better not let the property owner know if you want to keep that cheap lease though.

That stinks. I never understand why guys are like that.

After I killed my buck last week, the first thing I did was set up a newbie in my best spot. It didn't work out for him, but it would not have bothered me at all had he nailed a monster...

Some people...[>:]

Sounds like you guys need to have a chat. Hang in there man.

Kill the big one and tell him he can have the bottom back there aren't any good deer there anyway.

Yes I'd say the grass was greener. I did see the biggest deer in the wild I've ever seen before. I would have liked to have gotten it done in one sit but really, how realistic is that?
