5:00 this afternoon after watching several deer out of range, my son and I finally had some luck. We had a buck come in and chase a doe, in doing so, he caused her twins to head our way. I watched them through the binos when they were about thirty yards away and made sure they were both doe fawns not button bucks. I told him to get ready as one of them started to enter his shooting lane. As she stepped broadside at 18 yds. I told him to relax and put his 20 yd. pin right behind her shoulder. He eased the Tomkat back and sent a Montec G5 tipped arrow right through her lungs. She bounded off about 40 yds., stopped, and fell over. I am still so pumped I can barely type this. This was by far and away the best hunt I have ever had in 15 yrs. of bowhunting. My boy was so excited he almost shook himself out of the stand. Sorry for the crummy photo, I was a bad Dad and left the camera at home. We had to take the pics in the yard when we got back. We will be celebrating with tenderloins and eggs in the morning!
