I just got permission to hunt 65 acres of very private land. The best part about this property is that is backs up to a nature preserve. The owner has a brother that hunts it sometimes (1x month), so it looks like I will have it to myself the majority of time! I can start hunting next weekend....which leads me to ask this question....will the rut still be going strong next weekend? I live in SW Ohio, and I know things are definitely heating up!! I also hunt in SE Indiana, and shot a very nice 10 point on 10/30. My 11 yr old son hunts with me in Ohio as well. The property we hunt now is going down the tubes. The owner of this particular piece of land lets EVERYONE he knows hunt it. I had a very nice ladder stand stolen a couple of weeks ago on this property. I am grateful that I have this opportunity. Hunting land (if you don't own it) it becoming less and less...... Thanks for listening.

Hey doughboy2, things in the Cincinnati area woods are indeed starting to heat up a bit. I have seen more bucks this week than I have in the past 2 years in the same week (I keep logs of everyday I hunt to compare to previous days, years past) one and two years previous. They started off slow though this year but have surely increased the past 4 days. This weekend coming up 11-9-07 thru 11-11-07 should be pretty darn good to be in your stand on the new property. Early morning hunts, if possible, the following week should be mind blowing. Shawn-I can not hunt on that property until Monday. The owners brother is coming in from Indy to hunt it...he is not stupid. I am just hoping that things are still buzzing next week into next weekend. Where are you in Cincy? I live in Fairfield.

I'm in North College Hill, but will be moving back to the Milford area very soon! And things have been slow lately in the woods, but have really picked up a bit in the woods over the past 4 days. My folks live in Newtonsville. I am sure that you know where that is. Me, my son and my Dad hunt a piece of property right off 131 in Newtonsville. However, the owner is letting everyone hunt it, and I got a stand stolen about 2 weeks ago. I will let you know how we do on the new property. This is the first time in my 15+ years of hunting that I will be the only one hunting on a piece of property. The owner told me to run any one off that I see , because we are the only ones allowed to hunt. Where do you hunt? Do you hunt near Milford?
