ORIGINAL: DropTine249

I was at one of my local bow shops, they carry the new Ross Cardiac. This bow shop is where I buy, scents, stands, things like that. Not bows.

I held the Ross, listened to the guy shoot it, its quiet, 320pfs OBI. Even the guys at the shop where I do purchase my bows said that the Ross is an amazing bow.

Im told that the gentleman whom founded Ross bows was a bow designer for Mathews, Hoyt, BowTech and some other company. Its said that he basically decided to go out on his own instead of making others rich and hes made an extremely good bow.

Anyone have any experience with Ross bows ? Its light, fits in my hand well(didnt shoot it because there wasnt one set to my draw lenght and I was pressed for time). Thanks for any info !!

Ross bows are GREAT bows. I really like them and I'm going to do my best to answer your questions here.

As far as the 320IBO on the Cardiac, I have yet to see anyone touch that. It's just something about a single cam, they aren't nearly as efficient as a hybrid cam, but they are deadly quiet and very light. Combine that with smooth drawing and you have a heck of a hunting bow.

As far as the founder of Ross designing bows for other companies, that's not right. Andy (the owner) was actually in the music buisness before deciding to build bows. Now they may have a designer or something that worked for all those other bow companies, that I don't know.

Ross this year, however have had some major problems. More specifically, manufacturing trouble. Some Left Handed shooters still don't have bows they ordered back in early '07. I don't see them having this problem again in the near future, I think they were just overwhelmed with customers this year. Which unfortunately, I think they've lost a few of those customers due to the manufacturing trouble.

Another plus is that they use Winner's Choice strings and cablesstraight from the factory. That's usually a $100 upgrade right there. However I wouldn't be surprised to see that come to an end as well. Most bow companies after a few years find out they are losing too much money outsourcing their strings so they decide to go in house with them.

If they do this, I hope they don't turn out a crappy as Hoyt's FUSE strings. Bowtech on the other hand makes pretty good strings straight from the factory from what I've seen/heard.

Hope that helps.

The cardiac will reach 320, or real close to it,but out of the box they seem to be a little slow. The ones that I have here in the shop needed to be tweaked a little bit to get into advertised specs. The bows weren't reaching the full 70 pounds out of the box so by twisting the cable just a little and getting it where it should beI was able to get the cardiac to reach the advertised 320.

The bows were29" draw andthey reached 308 at 70 pounds and a 352 grain arrow.

AS far as the quality of the bow is concerned.... I haven't seen another bow that is built better. The quality, fit and finish is second to none.

Ross bows are nice but if you are looking for speed they are not the way to go, I sell a lot of them to guys with shoulder problems because they draw fairly smooth.

Default RE: ROSS bows ?

rumor floating around is that the new 08 cardiac will touch 340fps... 07 cardiac tech is moving into the 33x line as well... i wouldn't believe any claim til I heard it direct from them though... i believe the release date is the 15th??? not 100% though... the "problems" mentioned above had nothing to do with the quality of the bow or performance of them, strictly they had underestimated demand and couldn't keep up with production... I hear they have addressed this with the 08 models...

personally i've got a 334, as mentioned above, there is not a higher quality bow on the market, they are smoother than anything i've shot to date and while not exactly speed demons, even a "slow" CR series ross will drop any big game in north america... try one before you dismiss it as "slow", i'd bet you really like it...

Yes the cardiacs are going to be offered in 31, 33, and 37 inch ATA lengths for 2008. They duidn't say anything about the 340fps though.
