I got a call yesterday from my gf's cousin. He has been hunting his whole like and has killed several trophy bucks. His hunting ethics however suck. So he calls me yesterday to tell me that he shot a big 10 pointer at 6 yards. I said congradulations, then he proceeds to tell me that he shot it while it was at a"full run, slop shot it and hit it in the guts". [:@]His exact words. He waits 20 mins and decides to look for it gives up within mins, and decides it is long gone. I honestly didnt even know what to say, i was dumbfounded at the time. I offered to help him track it and he said oh i shot sunday im sure its good and dead now, oh well the coyotes need to eat too. [:'(]

Man I would jump all over that guy, maybe even tell fish and game about his admitted practices. That kind of behavior is unnacceptable regardless of whether he is family. He needs to change!
I liver shot a doe muley this year and lost the blood trail but kept on it into the next morning and found her. Recovered just about all the meat. You simply must care about the animal and do your damndest to recover it.

I agree totally with you guys, Im just not sure if there is anything i can do about it. He knows that this is only my second year hunting and doesnt listen to a single piece of advice. He is set in his ways becuase thats the way he was taught. I cant tell you guys how happy i am that i got involved in this sport from good ethical hunters.
