Default Scent Question

If you're going ot hunt inthe early AM, do you use a drag and/or a hanging scent wick kind of thing? If so, do you do it on your way in in the dark, an hour or so before shooting light? I'm concerned that the bucks will come in the dark, see it's not a doe and then not come back? I am concerned that if I climb down to do this just before light, I might spook deer moving thorugh the vicinity.

Any thoughts from those of you more experienced than me in this (probably most of you)?

Nothing is guaranteed, but I'll tell you I would do it on my way in cuz at first light i'm standing ready with bow in hand.

definitely when i walk in. even if one comes in and starts to walk away if he thinks there is a doe there a quick grunt will bring him right back.

Most defenitely on your way in. Better to take the chance of the bucks coming in too early than to take the chance of spooking everything by getting down after first light.

I've wondered the same thing but I've always done it before daylight. I do make sure it is the last thing I do before starting my ascent.

Do it on the way in, plan on being set up just at shooting light, not earlier.
