Default laws about leaving stand on gameland

can somebody please tell me the laws for leaving a climbing treestand on gameland? i had one get gone that i left over night. is this punishable by law? i was going to call the game warden to see if he can look in to it.anybody know?

public or private land, it always differs by state & region & opinion too. I'd check with your local county sheriff, game warden......and even then I'd bet the opinions will differ.

Tommy, I'm in NC too. I used to hunt gamelands and I would leave my climber overnight but not during the daytime...too many people around. I believe the NC law is that you can't have permanent stands on gamelands...ie anything nailed into the tree that's a permanent structure. Other stands you should be cool.

i had a climber get stole.. you think somebody could be held responsible? my guess it was somebody that come in from the lake

Here in Illinois a portable stand cannot be left overnight on state land.

Either way you look at it, they will never be able to find it or even try for you. They have bigger fish to fry than to look for a stolen tree stand. You would have to know where it is and then call the police and tell them you know who has it and you want it back. Good luck.
