Default how old is a button buck?

I shot a nubby of course not knowing it was one til I was tagging it. The nubs are an inch long and pointed. Knowing nothing about deer age and weight correlations, I think this 90 pounder had to have been born 2 springs ago right? My reasoning here is that it couldn't have put on 75lbs of weightin 5months of life.-or am I wrong in my assumption?

Cap'n Mauser is correct. That deer was born this year.

They will put it on fast... I shot a 93# button a couple of years ago with the shotgun. Shot it for a nice doe.
I couldn't believe a bb could be that heavy.

Just for reference...If you look at the top of their head between the ears you can tell if it is a button buck or a doe. A button buck will have a squared head and a doe will be round. Congrats on the deer though...good eatin

Rob/PA was down last year....and we were set up about 60 yds apart. I had 3 deer come through and I was about to take a shot at the "doe" with her two fawns. What I was about to shoot, though.....was a BB. The BB was bigger than his sister AND his mama. I'm happy I glassed one more time.....

This would have been mid-Nov, '06. He was clearly a lot bigger than his mama. Not bigger than all the does in the group....but a lot larger than the doe he was with.

I had 2 does and a fawn come in a few days ago. My best shot was on the smaller of the 2 does.
I had time to glass and realized the 2nd doe was a BB. Just about as big as mom. He got a pass and I shot his sister instead.
I guess the woods is the only place guys get a break..

I took a doe yesterday, at 30 yards. My buddy and I dropped our stuff back at the blazer and walked back to the likely spot she would have dropped. "There she is", he said.He got closer, "It's a button!?"[:@]His head was rounded more like a doe's would be and his nubs layed back against his head. Anyone hear of that? I've seen nubs but nothing like this. Those suckers were about an inch and a half long! If they'd been poking straight up, I'd have known for sure. What can you do?

I did the same thing a few years back Monie.. I shot him as the world's largest button, or the world's smallest spike.
He dressed out at 107lb... everyone told me he was a tiny spike...
Way to go Planter!
This is the "mini" I shota few years back... spike or button?
