Default BBD(button buck down) by accident.

Mon. morn. shot a button thinking it was a small doe.Bummed when I got over to him as I wouldn't have taken him if I knew. He came in and laid down about 60 yds. from me for about a half hour. A bunch of other deer up the hill from him must have spooked him cause he ran to me and then quartered away down a hill. The first shot I had was when he stopped next to a rock I ranged at a true 28 yds. I put my 30 yd pin on him and shot over him. Why? Because Line of sight was 28 yds. not shooting 28 yds.In hind site, even if I compensated more, I dont think it would have been enough. Upon missing he took a couple of steps and was now hard quartering away, still on this steep hill. I realized what I had done and slowly knocked another arrow(still thinking it was a doe), put the 20 on him and squeezed the trigger. The arrow hit perfectly up and down but far back(behind rib cage)and exited just foward of mid deer on other side. He trotted about 15 yds and then just stood there for about 2 min. He then slowly walked another 5 yds, laid down and died. Upon gutting I found that I had gone thru the stomach and thru a small pink organ(guessing liver?), I couldn't tell if I nicked any lung though. Happy I broke the ice but unhappy it was a small buck. Learned to definitely range straight out from my tree rather than to objects on ground.

No sweat. Shot one the other night for target practice. When I did eat deer, that's what I would shoot. They were the best to eat. This guy became cat food. I got face to face with a 450# tiger. WOW!

Liver is big. Must have been something else.

Glad you got him. Nothing wrong with a BB.

Yeah, I didn't think it was the liver, it was pink not dark red. It was such a mess with the stomach pierced and all. I actually think it was the left side lung. The organ was the size of a flattened softball. Either way he only went about 12yds.

Thanks, I had been out a good amount and hadnt got anything yet. Was starting to get frustrated, I'm usually good for a one a week average for the 2 1/2months bow season is open. Got some catching up to do.
