Default My Boy's 1st Buck

I don't know if I can be more happy than I am right now. My 10 year old son shot his first buck with me sitting right next to him. Here's the story. I called his mother and told her to meet me at the house after school that I wanted to get out in the stand with Josh. As usual, she was a little late and we didn't pull into the property until 4:45pm. The stand is easy to get to and there is very little impact to the area while approaching, so I thought it would be fine. We climbed into the stand at 4:55pm and got situated. Josh was very excited because he had seen all the trailcam pics from this stand site. At 5:08 he spotted a 5pt coming in. I asked if he wanted to take it and he replied that it was a little young. Wow, he does listen to my mantra on young deer. Three minutes later a 9pt walks in to check the scrape we are looking at and gets all puffed up and stiff legged over the other buck. At this point, Josh is shaking a little and waiting for a chance to draw on this buck. He waits and waits and all of a sudden both deer alert and look back toward the trail. To our surprise, in walks this monster bodied 6pt. He sticks his head down into the scrape, Josh draws and lets him have it. Great shot, double lung with a Rage 100 grain. What an entry hole. The buck went about 100 yards and Josh tracked the blood himself and found the buck with no help from me. I am one proud Dad and have a permanent grin on my face this week. Thanks for the advice from you other fathers, it surely helped me teach my boy.
