you wont see the rut till the time changes next weekend! The rut phase counts on the shortness of daylight. Thats what sets them off. I seen 2 buck the other night niether looked to horny to me. THey were just feeding!

The time change has nothing to do with the shortness of light.... All it does is readjust the times it gets light in the mrning and dark at night according to our watches.. to the deer though nothing changes...

It's not happening here in my neck of the woods.....took GMMAT, Lisa and my wife spot lighting Thursday evening. GMMAT can't do that in NC so I thought they'd enjoy it here. The bucks checked the does, went back to feeding and moving on...the does are not in estrous....

My mother called me tonight, said a huge 12 and a 10 were in the back yard grooming and licking each others heads...NOT RUTTING....it'll start to happen in the next week but one thing is certain...it's not early....

Thanks for the info Rob.. I hhad a feeling when on saturday i saw nothing unti darkness.. Also, I've been wondering about if it was legal to go spotting during season.. I was told by someone that you cant go spotlighting during any deer season.. I have always done it, but after hearing that it had me wondering.... Can you clarify Rob..?

The only time you are not permitted to spotlight is during regular firearms season. I'm not sure about the early muzzleloader or sr/jr rifle doe....

On Staurday , I seen three different bucks chasing does. They were all small bucks. They were really pushing the does around. They are starting to get very interested in the does. With the weather finally dipping near frost temperatures at night, I believe that the bigger bucks will start nosing around the does very soon. Hang in there it starting to get good. As long as the weather stays cool! Good luck.

I've not noticed anything in my PA woods as far as chasing, but my drive to has become a bit more interesting. deer everywhere. Roadkills up HUGE. So something is starting up. This weekend was very low on deer activity, but I did finally see a few fresh scrapes. Maybe those "suburb" deer are little more anxious

I think they may be just starting to feel their oats now. I've been hearing differnt stories, but the buck I saw on thursday definately had love on his mind. End of this week should be crazy.
