Default Interesting Observation - Full Moon

Hunting yesterday afternoon in central Illinois during a full moon was very uneventful. The woods were unusually still and i saw zero deer movement.

During the 2 mile walk back to mytruck I saw several deer still bedding down! It was dark and I was using my LED light for the walk back and was illuminating deer eyes every couple of hundred yards, bedded in tall grass.

Then during the drive home I took some extra time to scope out the fields with my night vision scope and found the same thing. Deer bedded in open cut bean fields and alongside creeks.

I've never really bought into the idea that hunting was bad/different during full moons but this is credible evidence supporting that!

Deer movements (sightings) here have been during normal expected times until yesterday.... what gives?

Has anybody else noticed similar? Or did anyone notice anything contradictory?

Yeah, I was out last evening and only saw one button buck. I thought is was a perfect evening for deer but apparently they didn't. The moon was awfully bright.

louddrummer69....not to hijack this thread but that avatar is just disturbing. Crossing both gender and species boundaries.

I wonder if it had more to do with the weather??? Just a thought. I hear folks say quite often that hunting during a full moon is tough, because there is so much light at night the deer are up feeding all night....

But don't deer see well in the dark anyway? So to what benefit would the extra light serve??

I personally like hunting on full moons.......Much, MUCH better than new moons...I see far more deer.

I saw several deer, however this was in between rain showers( 4pm-6pm )My deer took the opprtunity to feed right after it stopped raining.I believe the full moon with clear skys definitely has the deer coming out long after legal hunting time.It depends on the conditions as to whether the moon has it's full effect. Interesting though, out of the 12 deer that passed near me all were does and young fawns, no bucks.
