Shot a buck once, it ran to a little creek. I had trouble finding that deer, it was completely under water. Not sure if it was on the bottom or just under the surface. I would say it would sink and float after a few days.

Deer will float, i shot my doe last season and she swam out in the middle of a pond and died, leaving a bubble trail where the last of her air ran out of two holes in her side's.seen her side sticking out of the 10 ft. deep water. This was 40 minutes after the shot. I had to boat her out. They will float

I have friend who shot one once it was a 190 incher that ran for a cove in the Red Rock lake Iowa and he tracked it up to the bank. He went back and took a bass boat and when to the cove couldn't see where he come out on the other side, it was night he was looking around with his fashlight and seen a little white thing in the water and it was the deer tail. he was in about 8 to 9 feet of water and the white thing was the end of his tail and his head was on the bottom. Talk about being lucky
