id agree with that...for the chasing phase....i believe that falls into the end of pre-rut though. to me, the rut is when they are breeding. i will take the chasing phase any day...usually is from about that date till atleast the end of PA archery season...atleast from what i expirienced.

I always go by the youth day hunt NOV 13-14th is when I start seeing the most activity in my area! Which is WesternMaryland(hence the name)

But the best thing I can tell ya is get in the woods as much as you can from the end of OCT on and you will find out quickly when the prime will be! Good Luck!

Charlie Alsheimers (biologist) Deer and Deer Hunting just talked about this. This year, Oct 29-Nov 12 will be the seeking/chasing phase and the best time to be in the woods. After Nov 12th through the following x days will be the lockdown phase (PEAK RUT) when bucks are locked down with does and most of the does (majority) are in peak estrous.

Those believing Nov 5th for PA to be peak are off...not so, that's still part of the pre-rut....the tail end prior to lockdown as the best time to be in the woods.

Regardless my injury, you bet your ass I'll be in a tree those 2 weeks...unless I'm tagged out. ;)

I have so many does, here.....they chase the little hussies from Early Nov. all the way through our season (they did, last year). I honestly don't think they all get bred, here.

I know of 8 or so that won't get bred, this year;)

I shot my last buck on 12/9 last year.....when he stopped to work a scrape. He chased does in front of me for 10 minutes before offering me a shot.
