Default bear meat

can you eat bear after they have been eating rotten bait meat?

You don't have to salvage the meat off a bear shot in AK after June 1 because they figure they start getting into rotten fish by then[:'(]. Up until then I've had varying experience with spring bears, some were[8D] and others[:'(]. Personally I wouldn't put meat at my bait sites if I had any; "you are what you eat..."

I would recommed having a few "sodas" before eating bear meat. It might taste fine if it is disguised by something else, like in a chili, but to sit and eat a steak of it, its a bit strong.

Bear w/ me folks ( ) I've never hunted these critters before....I've heard they are know to have worms pretty badly too....Any truth to that?

I'd agree with Kodiak. I've eaten every springbear I have killed, dang good all of them but each and everyone was grazing on fresh grasses in the spring.. no bait no garbage..

Take a dump bear or bait pile bear..(depending on the bait) I'd have second thoughts..

Never seen any "worms" but they do carry trichinosis so you have to treat it like you would pork; no medium rare nothing.
