i just found 10 beds in about a 15 yard radius. does this mean there are 10 deer? or is it the same couple of deer moving around?

Doesn;t that drive you nuts? You try following the tracks to figure out which one went where and was this on just moving over there or was it two deer one following the other one or, or, or...

Or is it just me?

I would say it depends on were it is. If it is near a field it could be a staging area and I would say it's more than likely multiple deer. If it is in the middle of the woods and there isn't much other for cover it could be multiple deer. If it is in an area were there is plenty of cover then I would say take a guess, could be 1 could be 9. This is only my .02, that is usually the way I try to identify a staging area.
