What state are you hunting in? The reason I ask is that here in Georgia anyone under 12 doesn't have to have a license, the just have with a licensed adult hunter (18 or older). As for poaching I personally don't think so. This would be a good question for your state wildlife guys.

Check your state laws. Here in IA my boy at 11 legally took adeer with his bow and was required to buy his own deer tag although he was too young to attend hunter safety which is allowed at 12. He would notbe allowed to shoot a deer with my tag.He needs no hunting license though until age 16 unless not hunting under my direct supervision which is within sight or hearing distance. A tag is required for any individual that shootsa deer here, regardless of age. There is no age requirement or bow poundage requirements here or any age requirements for firearm deer hunters; just the regular hunting license isn't required until they have completed hunter safety and wish to hunt on their own or reach 16.

Yes, in IA what you asked is against the law.

I don't consider it poaching. If you don't use your tag, then it will be. I look at poaching as taking deer at night, out of season, no license. You have the license, all you are letting her do is pull the trigger.

If it is illegal where you are, then there you have it. BUT...would I call you or your daughter a "poacher" in that situation...absolutely not.

Just my opinion.
