Default I have ?'s about building an outdoor target butt

Ive found several ideas on how to build a brace for a outdoor butt but Im trying to figure out what a good material to use for the stop, most indoor ranges are using pressed cardboard for their butts but I need a material that will stand up to the outdoor enviroment. I was thinking maybe a foam type board but im having trouble finding anything remotely close at the home depot if anyone knows of a good material and how or where to get it any info would be greatly appreciated.

We built an outdoor pressed cardboard butt 20 years ago and put a plywood cabinet around it. The front hangs by 2 bolts with wingnuts. Remove the front of the cabinet and reveal the target.

Hello

For over twenty years I've had the same target, shoot mostly broadheads and hasn't cost me a dime since I built it. Of course you'll have to own your own property and your not going to move it. I have a dirt bunker.

I used four treated poles and placed them in the ground to form a 8' x 4' rectangle. I place a full sheet of treated plywood across the 8' back and a half sheet of treated plywood on each side, leaving the front open. Then I tarred the inside of the plywood. Then I filled the inside with black dirt that I screened to omit any rocks. So I have a dirt bunker with an 8' wide target area that has about 3 foot of depth.

If ever I needed to redo it, and I won't. I'd use landscaping blocks make my wife a tiered flower garden with my bunker in the center. But my bunker doesn't look that bad and its tucked next to a shed so its out of view.

Happy Hunting
Dan
