Hunting Missouri
Just wanted to see when the Rut typically hits in Missouri. My wife has a family member that owns a 200 acre ranch and it is my understanding from the owner that he lets NO one hunt except family and their family is here in MD. There are a ton of Deer and Turkey on the property.I am really considering taking a trip there this year. Planning a 1-2 day scouting mission and then hunting for the rest of the week. I am just trying to get a grasp of what time frame Rut may be so I cam plan in accordance w/ my Maryland hunting. Any help would be appreciated...
Diesel77 If this works out I hope you can make the trip....

RE: Hunting Missouri
MO unlike every state that surrounds us launches it's gun season about the peak of activity time for the big deer. I always bowhunt from Nov 1 until the start of gun season (around Nov 11). Activity seems to revolve around herd dynamics regionally- My last 2 bucks (140 and 155) were killed on Nov 8,9th. Good luck

Like engie said the best time is usually right whengun season starts. But if you can get there the first week of Nov. you should see some action. Specially if a good cold front moves thru, that seems to get them in the mood.

RE: Hunting Missouri
I always take a vacation the last week of October thru the first week of November for bowhunting before firearms season start. I see a lot of rutting activity at this time. Last year I saw several bucks-including the biggest I have ever seen-chasing does like crazy in the middle of October. I wouldnt count on this to plan a visit on, but it goes to show how unpredictable whitetail can be. You just gotta be out there!

I believe the population for deer in Missouri this year is around 10 and they all ran over to Kansas!! Just kidding. Be in your stand from anywhere between Nov 1st and 10th right before rifle and you should see them running wild. Good Luck!
