Do Bucks Move In The Rain During The Rut?

I was curious as to see what everyone thoughts were on if bucks will reduce there movement during the rut if it rains? I am not talking about a down pour but just a slight shower or so. The reason that I ask is I seem to never see any bucks when it rains.

Thanks,

HANKFAN

Yes. It is my experience that they will move through drizzle and fog. Most hunters prefer not to hunt during those times.

The bucks do what the does do during the Rut. If does are moving the bucks are following them . YOu may also catch a big boy looking for a doe....during the rut I would never turn down a day to hunt, but I never turn down a day to hunt even if its not the rut.

I've bowhunted for over 25 years. My experience has been that a LIGHT to moderate rain can actually enhance deer movement during the rut depending on wind speed. We have to be careful in rain situations as they could make tracking non-existent.

I see probably more deer in a light rain than I do in othe conditions. Also, right after a rain they are really on the move.

a big yes, last year i saw twice as many deer on days that it was raining, snowing, or really overcast and dreary compared to days it was clear and sunny

My research shows that bucks will move in almost any weather during the rut; especially when it rains and the bucks know the does may be staying in their core areas. The way I put it in my seminars is, "If you guys only got it 3 months a year, you'd go for all you could get, and you'd act stupid too!" Do you think the rain would stop you????

THE ONLY THING THAT SLOWS DOWN A BUCK DURING THE RUT IS AN ARROW OR A BULLET.
