Right before this evening hunt, I took a couple of practice shots, the second shot hit the side of the target and broke in two. All my shots were going way left (7-10"). When this happens right before a hunt panic quickly rises to the surface, after a few mutterings between my partner and a quick check over of the bow I decide to change my site (still don"t know the problem, but I had to do something. After a few adjustments, it is grouping arrows nicely close the target (close enough). We quickly make it to the stand site around 5:30 and set up. I spooked a doe on the way in, looked like she was bedded right in front of my stand. Finally up in the tree I notice that my string, peep, rest, and site are all nicely lined up. Usually my sites are left of the string and rest. Weird. I didn"t change my form at all. I did have the cable changed two weeks ago. I also rubbed graphite on the string and cable at the cable guard roller (I"m shooting a Matthew's Ovation). I also injured my thumb joint two days ago, but nothing serious - no swelling or pain when I hold the bow. What in the world would cause my arrows to go 10" to the right. It seemed to be shooting good two days ago - when I did make an adjustment of the sight to the right (because it was shooting slightly right) This is just weird, never had it happen before. Does anyone have any feedback on this problem?

The only thing I can think of right away is that you don't think your form is differant but you are probably wearing your hunting clothes. Very few people practice with full garb on.
Perhaps your pin-sight got bumped or your rest came loose and shifted on you. Those could be problems. Sometimes, a bump will move your pins just enough to make you shoot drastically to one side or the other.

I've been hunting with the same clothes for the last four weeks (at least 10 times). I did change to a thinner glove rather than the normal leather shooting glove, but have shot with this glove for the past week. I checked the sites and rest nothing seems loose or bumped. Now a cracked limb? ouch I better check that one over. I'm going to do some shooting after work tonight to see what I can come up with. What ever happened things seem to be lined up better than ever before. Maybe it was devine intervention? Or did aliens swap out my face with a different one with out me knowing (therby changing my anchor point)???

I figured it out. It was the combination of shooting with a different glove and having my setting changed when the cable was replaced. I think the out of tune aspect was amplifying the difference using a different glove. I tuned up my settings and was back on.
