My Argentina Water Buffalo
Finally got my pics in electronic format and thought I'd try to post one. This is a picture of a my water buffalo I took at the end of August about 4 hours South of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was TOUGH and I'm sorry to say it took more than one shot to put him down, but I was successful in the end.
I also learned that 70-pounds and 125-grain Thunderheads on 27-inch 2314's was a bit under powered for this big of an animal. I needed about 10 more pounds of draw weight and probably 150-200 more grains of arrow!
By the way, he weighed in at about 1500-pounds! And if you look REALLY close, you can see a 125-grain Thunderhead BURIED in his horn that is showing in the picture! It's just to the right of my hand. Yes, I shot him in the HORN! I know that sounds pathetic, but if you factor in the fact that he was charging me at the time, from 20 yards away, and his head was down in front of his chest...perhaps it is understandable!
Hope you enjoy...
