Default Broadhead weight vs Fieldpoint weight ???

Here is my dilema.

I shoot 85 grain field tips and my bow is tuned to shoot this setup perfectly.

I want to shoot Muzzy heads but they only come in 75 grain or 90 grain and the 90 grain is a 4 blade head.

What should I do??

I bought some 75 grain field points and I didn't seem to get any poor arrow flight........just hitting a bit high now due to lighter arrow.

I don't want to mess up my setup and have to start over........and I really don't feel like buying the wrong weight heads and spending $30 for nothing.

Thanks for the help

Go with the 90 grain, this will also drop your shot a bit at 20 yards. Under 20 yards you should still shoot the same, that is if your bow will shoot broadheads the same as field points. Use the same grain fieldtip as your broadhead.

Go to the hardware store and get some little lock washers just a little bigger than the diameter of teh screw-in portion of the broadheads. Take these to the drug store and ask to have them weighed on a grain scale. They should be close to 5 grains.
I did this several years ago to get 125 field points to weight the same as my 130 grain Muzzys.

Good Luck

You will not notice a diff. with 5 grns. They will impact the same. I would go with the 90's or get 85 grn Thunder heads.

The only thing stopping me from grabbing some 90 grain Muzzy's is the fact they are 4 blade..........or shouldn't I care about that??

I wish I could find some 3 pack 85 grain Thunderheads to try.

My arrows do fly well with the 75 grain field points so I think I may be OK either way.

I hope
